Corporate Magic - Where Big Money Can Be Made

Often when someone is starting out learning how to become a magician they dream of some day becoming a big corporate magic star like David Copperfield or Criss Angel.

Depending on their natural talent for sleight of hand and their ability to entertain an audience will usually determine how far they will go. Many will remain amateur magicians, but a select few will make the grade and go on to become full time professionals.

Generally speaking an amateur magician is someone who had studied the art for a while and may be very good at performing 8 or 10 tricks really well and be in demand for kids parties.

There are many amateur magicians who work harder and put in a lot of practice time to learn more tricks and they can make good money working on a part time basis.

However, to get right to the top you need to be a professional magician.

A professional magician is someone who has really studied the art for many years and has the natural talent to develop and perform some stunning illusions.

A professional magician can make really big money performing at corporate events. There are thousands of companies worldwide who are looking for first class entertainment for their customers and staff at year end parties, gala dinners, cocktail parties, tradeshows, product launches or seminars. The market is huge and expanding all the time.

Opportunities abound for magicians who want to make their living entertaining corporate clients with magic, mystery and illusion.

Bookings are often taken through agents who have a large client list. The agents take on the job of finding suitable magicians who are experienced and capable of performing at the highest level.

Becoming an approved magician with an agent will make a tremendous difference to a magicians career. The agent takes on the responsibility for promoting the magician to the client. Their job is to select a suitable performer for a client and put them together based upon location, business and budget. The selection process is quite rigorous allowing only the very best performers to be added to the agents list.

Once a magician becomes established with a good reputation many of them start their own companies promoting themselves to major clients. They often have supporting acts they can hire allowing them to offer a complete package of entertainment for corporate events.

Another way to become involved in corporate magic is by joining organisations set up specifically for people who love performing all kinds of magic. The International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) claims to be the worlds largest organisation for the magical arts having "nearly 12,000 members worldwide with over 300 local groups called Rings in more than 73 countries".
